Antique Number Six

The emergence of the Egyptian in 1815 at the Figgins foundry was one of the most revolutionary moments in British typefounding. Even when the foundry was no longer Figgins, but Steven Shanks & son, the foundry continued to produce the slab serif. As late as the 1960s you could purchase Antique Number Six, a face first cut in the 1880s.
