Caslon Antique

The Calson typefoundry ceased to exist in 1937, with its material going in part to its commercial rivals, Stephenson Blake, and the historical material to Monotype. What Monotype intended to do is open to question, but they did make some revivals from the punches. To do this they made smoke proofs, which eventually made there way to St Bride library. One of these in Box 649, was of a shaded Egyptian in approximately 18 point.
